Mitsubishi Mirage Debuts With 40 MPG Combined
It might not look like much, and might even be Mitsubishi’s last ditch attempt to hang on to the North American marketplace, but the all-new Mirage 5-door subcompact does have one thing going for it: 40 mpg combined!
True, many cars now boast a 40 mpg rating, but almost all of those do so only on the highway. With the Mirage, however, Mitsu is claiming you should be able to achieve 40 mpg in regular driving, with a rating of 37 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway.

Exactly how the Mirage achieves those numbers is a bit of a mystery as Mitsubishi has yet to announce exactly what engine will power the car in North America. Already available overseas, in other markets the Mirage uses a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine making 74 hp.
Heading to dealers this Fall, the Mirage will come with a 4-speaker audio system with USB hookups, 7 airbags, power windows and automatic climate control, while options include navigation and a rearview camera.
