Sometimes there’ s just no replacement for displacement, and Shelby proves that mantra with its new 1000 S/C that features 1,200 hp and will be heading for its debut this week at the 2013 New York Auto Show.

Taking the Ford Mustang to all new heights, the Shelby 1000 S/C takes the factory 5.4-liter motor up to a stroked 5.8-liter engine thanks to new pistons, rods, and crank. The 2013 model year 1000 S/C builds upon last year’s edition 1000, which around had a mind-numbing 900 hp in street form and could hit over 1,000 hp in the S/C edition. This year, Shelby left nothing on the table with its supercharged 5.8-liter monster, pushing out 1,200 hp.

It’s not all about under the hood performance though; the Shelby 1000 S/C also sports adjustable suspension and bigger brakes. Unfortunately, no actual performance figures have been announced, though pricing will be set at $154,995. Quantity will be limited to just 100 units, so it’ll surely be a collectible despite its exorbitant price tag.
