Performance bargains were the most popular in AutoGuide.com’s new cars section this week. The top three were the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Mazda MX-5.

Ford’s muscle car is nearing the end of its lifecycle with an all-new version expected to carry a turbo four cylinder and for the first time an independent rear suspension. Meanwhile, Chevrolet just unveiled its refreshed 2014 Camaro at the New York Auto Show, including the revived Z/28 nameplate.

Mazda’s most recent vehicles are migrating to the brand’s new SkyActiv platform — a key separation from former parts sharing with Ford. Just like the Mustang, there’s a new MX-5 expected soon.

Less exciting, but more practical, the Nissan Sentra compact and Kia Rio sub-compact rounded off the list.
