Even though it’s heavily covered in camouflage, these are the first spy photos of the BMW 1 Series GT in seven-seater form being tested on the road.

Based on the Concept Active Tourer, the German automaker will have both five- and seven-seat variants for its new front-wheel drive model. The 1 Series GT will also have xDrive all-wheel drive variants and is based on the new UKL1 platform that will be shared with future BMW and MINI models.

The 1 Series GT is expected to be powered by a three-cylinder engine with a hybrid variant also available. A four-cylinder is a possibility for a top-of-the-line model.

This new BMW people hauler is expected to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year with the seven-seater model coming around six months later.
