Denver will become the 10th North American city with car2go service on June 8 when the Daimler subsidiary begins offering its car sharing service there.

Beginning next week, there will be 300 car2go edition Smart Fortwo available in the Denver metropolitan area. Registration opened yesterday. As is true in any other cities with the service, usage is restricted to the car2go “home area.” In Denver, that wil stretch north from Interstate 70 to East Yale Avenue and west from Sheridan Boulevard to Quebec Street.

“Walk, bike or ride, Denver is becoming a more multi-modal city every day,” Mayor Michael B. Hancock said. “Thanks to the, efforts of Denver Public Works and carshare providers like car2go, we’re providing our residents more multi-modal transportation options every day – further elevating Denver’s reputation as a smart, livable city.”

Members who use the promotional code “ROCKIES” will get 30 minutes of free use and for now the $35 registration fee is being waived. Car2go offers service in 19 cities worldwide.
