Following in the footsteps of the other Porsche 911 models that have been updated for the 991 generation, the new 911 GT2 was recently spied testing on the Nurburgring by AutoGuide‘s photographers.

The prototype the German automaker is testing is nearly undisguised, revealing some obvious details that will find their way onto the production car in some form. The wider wheel arches along with the wider rear fenders gives the new GT2 a more fierce stance while the race inspiration comes from the center-exit dual exhaust and the large rear spoiler.

The new GT2 is expected to be powered by a 3.8-liter, six-cylinder of some sort with 560 to 570 hp sent to the ground through a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission. It will be the fastest production 911 in Porsche’s history with the automaker hoping to travel to 62 mph in less than 3 second with a top speed over 200 mph.
