Sony has announced that a playable demo of Gran Turismo 6 will be available on July 2, 2013 for download on its PlayStation Network.

It appears that this time around, Polyphony Digital won’t be missing any deadlines, as the company promised a playable demo would come in July and it’s delivering. It also means that Gran Turismo 6 is on schedule to be released this holiday season, despite all the skeptics out there thanks to the numerous delays Gran Turismo 5 suffered.

But those looking forward to the demo are in for a treat. Sony has announced that the demo will be the qualifying method for GT Academy 2013 with qualifications ending on July 28. The demo will be built around the GT Academy boot camp, which means racers will virtually compete in a competition for a chance to go onto the final qualifier at the Silverstone track in U.K.

As far as cars, Sony said that the demo would have the Nissan Leaf, 370Z, and the GT-R at the very least.
