Tennessee Lobbying for Fiat-Chrysler Headquarters
State officials in Tennessee are making a case to Fiat– Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne to select Tennessee as the new home for the automaker’s joint headquarters.
Marchionne is hoping to complete the merger by the middle of next year, and was recently in Pulaski, Tennessee for the expansion of Fiat subsidiary Magneti Marelli’s components plant. Marchionne met with Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and others this past Sunday. According to WPLN-FM, Marchionne said that Tennessee officials have been “working me over pretty well.”
Marchionne has been dissatisfied with the Italian government and is considering moving part of Fiat’s operations to America. Other possibilities for the joint headquarters include available land near Chrysler’s headquarters or existing office space in Troy or Detroit.
