British sports car brand TVR made headlines last week after an image on the brand’s retail site suggested it was returning to the U.K.

Now the maker has confirmed that former owner Nikolai Smolenski has sold to company to Surrey-based entrepreneur Les Edgar.

“This wasn’t a snap decision. We have the money to do it, and we have a unique collection of people with business acumen and passion,” Edgar said in an interview with Top Gear.

Smolenski bout TVR in 2004 for a reported £15m but never built any new cars. He had also spoke about plans to use the brand name on wind turbines. That isn’t something Edgar plans to do.

“We bought TVR for what it is, and we don’t want to dilute that. We want to build on the DNA, and that’s unlikely to apply to anything but cars,” he said.
