Earlier this month, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive set the production electric vehicle lap record on the Nurburgring, clocking in a sub-eight minute lap at 7:56.234.

While the overall electric car record still stands with the Toyota EV P002 race car at 7:22.329, running a sub-eight minute lap in a production EV is an impressive feat. With an impressive 751 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque output, the SLS AMG Electric Drive is one of the most impressive EVs available, too bad there’s none planned for the U.S. market.
