2015 Lexus IS F to Ditch 5.0L V8
The 2014 Lexus IS saw dramatic changes and the next-generation IS F will receive an equally big transformation, including a new powerplant.
According to Junichiro Furuyuma, chief designer for the new IS, the current 5.0-liter V8 used in the IS F won’t be able to easily meet Euro 6 standards, so a new powerplant is likely for the next-gen IS F.

Currently both naturally-aspirated and turbocharged powerplants are under consideration, but it appears that Furuyuma is leaning towards a naturally-aspirated powerplant, expressing that it offers “a more pure experience.” One thing is for sure, hybrid technology won’t be used in the next-generation IS F, but it could become a possibility in a future generation, just definitely not this one.
The current IS F is still in production, and no official announcement has been made on its replacement.
