The concept preview of BMW’s hotly anticipated M4 sports coupe has leaked ahead of the planned debut during this weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Despite being billed a concept, this is expected to be an accurate reflection of the production car, which will be powered by a twin-turbocharged straight-six, ushering out the current V8.

Output is expected to be around 450 hp and about 450 lb-ft of torque — the car will only share about 20 percent of its parts with the normal 4 Series. Power will be sent exclusively to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The leaked photos show that even though the V8 will disappear, BMW is choosing to keep the power dome hood and aggressive front fascia featuring the same style of kidney grilles as the M5 and M6.

Expect to see the production version of the car during the Detroit Auto Show in January, 2014 before reaching dealers halfway through the year.
