Ferrari 458 Speciale Exhaust Note, Interior Teased

Ferrari sales staff are like bouncers maintaining a two-year line outside the club. Under that metaphor, the marketing team is comparable to a team of very effective hype men.

The latest from the prancing pony brand’s promoters comes by way of a teaser clip showing details of the lightened, hardcore 458. Even before it ignites the show floor in Frankfurt, there’s one component sure to generate a near-deafening buzz: the engine.

That’s true for two reasons. First, it’s incredibly powerful. In fact with , this is the most power-dense naturally aspirated V8 ever used in a road car with 597 hp. Second, and more importantly to the majority of people who will never drive one, it sounds incredible. It should, too, considering the insane 9,000 rpm redline.

Just like Ferrari’s past hardcore editions like the 360 Challenge Stradale and 430 Scuderia, the 458 Speciale is also lighter than the 458 Italia — by almost 200 lbs. It also reached 60 mph in under three seconds.
