Jaguar 'XQ' Crossover Gets Green Light: Report
Jaguar’s crossover, meant to rival the BMW X3, has been given the nod for production.
The crossover, which will share underpinnings with Jaguar’s upcoming rival to the BMW 3 Series, is expected to arrive in showrooms sometime in 2016 according to a new report from AutoCar. Jaguar is trailing sales at sibling brand Land Rover, and Jaguar executives hope the utility vehicle will be able to boost sales.
Past reports have suggested that the company will bring a teaser concept to the Frankfurt Motor Show in early September. There hasn’t been a name announcement, but “XQ” is a possibility.
Infiniti’s FX coupe-styled crossover is said to have leant heavy influence to the vehicle’s sheet metal.
Expect the car to come with both a 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine like the one found in the Range Rover Evoque and a six-cylinder option.
Jaguar is supposed to be aiming to price the XQ around £31,000 ($41,130), although it’s probably still too early to assume that figure would be final.
