Lexus has released the first teaser image of a new concept car that will make its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

It’s likely that the new model is in fact the brand’s upcoming NX crossover, with a smaller chance that it could be the new RC coupe model. That car, in high-performance RC-F trim is, however, more likely to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show several months later.

The reveal of a compact premium crossover also fits more closely with the goals of the Lexus brand in Europe, where the compact CT200h has been a significant success.

Rumored to be based on the Toyota RAV4 platform the NX will slot in underneath the RX in the Lexus lineup and will be the first Lexus model to make use of turbochargers, with reports indicating a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder will be offered.

On the concept, however, look for a similar version of the 2.5-liter hybrid system found under the hood of the ES300h and the European-market IS300h. In addition, Lexus has announced it will debut a GS300h for Europe in Frankfurt.

All will be revealed in Frankfurt on September 10th.
