Watch the Porsche 918 Spyder Set a Nurburgring Record
The Porsche 918 Spyder has set a Nurburgring record lap time of 6:57 and now you can hop along for the ride.
The German automaker has released an in-car video of the record-setting lap as the 918 Spyder becomes the first production car to turn in a sub-seven minute lap. The time was 15 seconds faster than the previous record holder, the Dodge Viper ACR and though there have been faster lap times by Radicals, those are hardly considered production vehicles and aren’t even street legal in North America.
According to Porsche, the record was broken in the 918 Spyder’s first attempt. Three drivers in total had their chance with all three beating the previous record. Porsche factory driver Marc Lieb however got to take home the bragging rights of the 6:57 lap.
Ride along with Lieb in the video below.
