Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Recalled for Roll-Away Risk

Lincoln has issued a recall for the MKZ Hybrid due to a transmission fault that could cause the car to roll away when it is parked.

The issue is the result of a transmission sensor error that may cause the car to think it is in neutral when in fact it is in park. As a result, a driver might be able to shift the car into gear without pressing down on the brake and could result in the car moving forwards or backwards when in park.

The recall affects roughly 7,100 MKZ Hybrid models in the US and 170 in Canada from both the 2013 and 2014 model year. More specifically, it applies to cars made between April 26, 2012 and September 24, 2013.

Ford has not yet indicated when it will notify vehicle owners of the recall but those with questions can call Lincoln customer service at 800 521 4140.
