Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe Concept Heading to 2013 LA Auto Show
Volkswagen will bring its CrossBlue Coupe Concept, which first debuted earlier this year in Shanghai, to the 2013 L.A. Auto Show.
Featuring a hybrid powertrain with 415 hp, the CrossBlue Coupe Concept is capable of achieving 70 MPGe while seating five comfortably. It is based on the German automaker’s new MQB architecture and features a plug-in V6 hybrid drivetrain. In strictly electric mode, the CrossBlue Coupe Concept can travel up to 13 miles. The V6 powerplant generates 295 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, but when the pair of electric motors turn on, the CrossBlue Coupe Concept has 516 lb-ft of torque.

With a top speed of 147 mph and a 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds, the CrossBlue Coupe Concept undoubtedly shows off what is possible in Volkswagen’s future. No longer are hybrids boring, eco-friendly cars – but rather functional vehicles that can not only carry plenty and look sharp, but offer performance comparable to gasoline vehicles. Inside, Volkswagen has packed the CrossBlue Coupe Concept with a ton of technology, bragging that the car simply “comes to life” once the driver’s door is opened.
