Honda just released a teaser image of its recently-announced 2014 Civic WTCC race car.

Looking more like something that eats happiness and souls for lunch, the race-modified Civic wears massively flared fenders to house larger, wider wheels. There’s also a huge spoiler and technical modifications to meet FIA WTCC regulations.

The new car will also be more powerful although Honda hasn’t said what the output will be. Previously, the car used a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Honda will only build a handful of the heavily modified street Civics with three teams able to claim a firm commitment from Honda. Zengo Motorsport, Proteam racing and Mehdi Bennani will be running the race-ready sedans when the races begin next spring.
