BMW’s upcoming 2 Series Active Tourer has been spotted completely uncovered.

The company’s first model to ride on the UKL1 front-wheel drive platform is expected to make its official debut during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March. That’s the same architecture used to underpin MINI’s new line of Cooper vehicles unveiled during the L.A. Auto Show in November using a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine and a force-fed 2.0-liter four pot. The car shown here wears a “225i” badge. In MINI’s application, the three-cylinder engine offers 134 hp while the larger four makes 189.

BMW hasn’t officially announced powertrain plans for the new line of front drivers, but both are likely candidates. A five-seat version of the car is expected to begin reaching dealers in late 2014 with a seven-seat variant following in 2015.
