Jaguar XJ Coupe Planned as Continental GT, S-Class Coupe Rival

Jaguar wants to move even more upscale than its F-Type coupe offering, with new rumors pointing to a two-door version of its XJ flagship sedan.

With the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe now official, Jaguar is keeping its eyes on the luxury coupe market and the model will likely replace the Jaguar XK as it gets phased out this summer. The XJ coupe will be a 2+2 grand tourer geared to take on the new S-Class coupe and Bentley Continental GT.

The Jaguar XK has seen its sales slow down since the F-Type’s launch. Through its lifetime, the luxury coupe has sold around 54,000 units but the British automaker only moved 4,000 off dealership lots last year. It is likely that the new coupe will be at least $100,000 to separate it from the F-Type’s pricing. Possible powerplants for the new model include a the brand’s supercharged V6 and V8 offerings. Unfortunately, the new model won’t likely make an appearance for several years.
