2016 Audi R8 Spotted in the Wild, Dressed to Kill

Can’t get enough low-slung German sexiness? AutoGuide.com’s spy photographers just snapped even more pictures of the next generation Audi R8 undergoing testing.

The car is neatly dressed in black, instead of swirly zebra stripes photographed previously. It’s now possible to make out some of the car’s features, although it looks like it’s been wrapped in electrical tape in some areas.

This 2016 model is expected to share the same bones as the Lamborghini Huracán, a structure made from carbon fiber and aluminum that promises to be hundreds of pounds lighter than today’s version of the R8.

Power is expected to come from a standard twin-turbocharged V8 or an optional 5.2-liter V10. All-wheel drive will of course be part of the package, while a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will handle shifting. It’s unknown whether a manual gearbox will be offered.
