Bugatti has revived one of the first ever street legal super sports cars in history.

Inspired by the legendary Type 18 “Black Bess,” the fifth model in the exclusive six-part Legends Edition is the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Black Bess. Like all the previous Bugatti Legends Edition models, the Black Bess will be limited to just three units and will be priced from nearly $3 million (€ 2.15 million). The Veyron Black Bess will make its official debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show.

Making the Black Bess Legends Edition unique, the model is entirely constructed from carbon fiber and is painted completely black, just like its historical predecessor. Accenting the pitch black exterior are gold-colored accents while some of the body components, such as the striking Bugatti horseshoe, are actually coated in 24-karat gold. On the inside, only the finest leather adorn the Bugatti Black Bess with the headliner, footwell, seats, elongated center console and rear bulkhead are finished in a light Beige tone while the dashboard, dash panel, door trim panel and cowl panel offering contrast in a Havanna shade.

As for all the other Legends Edition models, Bugatti announced that all 12 vehicles have been spoken for, proving that there truly is a market for all these special-edition Bugattis.

“Over the course of its history, Bugatti has not only been responsible for crafting enormously successful race cars, but has also created some outstanding road vehicles,” notes Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. “As the fastest road vehicle of its time, the Type 18 was in a class of its own. It truly is the legitimate forerunner for the Veyron, and is therefore a Bugatti Legend.”
