The Porsche 911 GTS could be getting more changes than originally thought.

In May, AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers caught the new 911 GTS testing and looking production ready, but according to Motor Trend‘s Jonny Lieberman the new 911 GTS will actually sport the 992 chassis code, rather than the current 991 code.

That brings up the possibility that the 991 facelift will usher in the 992 generation rather than going with a 991.5 chassis. Performance on the GTS is expected to sit between the Carrera S and GT3 with the flat-six engine tuned up to as much as 440 hp. Also look for a stiffer suspension and unique bodywork as well as center-exit exhaust pipes.

Look for the 2015 Porsche 911 GTS to be revealed at this year’s LA Auto Show.
