Hyundai has unveiled a third project heading to Las Vegas this year.
The Korean automaker has teamed up with Blood Type Racing Inc. from Chicago on a custom 2014 Genesis Coupe that takes the factory 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to all new heights. Building the motor from bottom-up, the Genesis Coupe tosses the factory turbo for a Precision Turbo 6266 ball-bearing twin-scroll unit that helps send over 800 hp to the rear wheels which means nearly 1,000 hp at the crank.
To really set off the Genesis Coupe from the sea of custom cars heading to this year’s SEMA Show, BTR has given it a widebody kit designed by Kei Miura from Japan. Custom two-piece Work Wheels will adorn each corner wrapped with Toyo R888 tires while Stance coilovers will give the Genesis Coupe a menacing stance
“Our focus on this vehicle was to build on the impressive performance abilities of the Genesis Coupe and help the growth of the aftermarket tuner community,” said Sam Lee, product manager, Blood Type Racing Inc. “It’s easy to add lots of power to an engine, but we engineered all other aspects of the vehicle – cornering and handling, stopping power, and visual appearance – to complement the massive horsepower we’re now getting from the engine. We’ve engineered a true, total package Genesis Coupe.”
