Hyundai’s 2.0T Genesis Coupe
is was a viable option for enthusiasts looking for a balance between value and performance, but as you probably know, the four-cylinder model is no more.
It’s too bad and the car that Chicago’s Blood Type Racing brought to the 2014 SEMA Show proves that by cranking out a baffling 800 hp from its 2.0-liter turbocharged four banger through a manual transmission to the rear wheels. The company focuses on ECU tunes and tuning cars for street friendly performance, but this project goes much further.
BTR bored the engine out for greater displacement and added a high-boost precision turbocharger, heavily revised internal engine components, a custom intake, intercooler, exhaust and nitrous system.
Almost every part of the car is upgraded and bolstered for the ridiculously powerful state of tune including an upgraded clutch, flywheel and axles. It sits on coilovers, 19-inch WORK wheels and takes advantage of upgraded brakes. As you can see, all of that sits inside a custom wide body kit that leave the BTR Gen Coupe looking more like a race car than something you would see on public roads, not to mention its massive spoiler.
Frankly that’s because it really is a race car. BTR deleted the rear seats, added a rolls cage, race buckets and harnesses and generally left the interior looking like something that wouldn’t be at home anywhere but the track in what might be the most appropriate send-off to the now-gone 2.0T Genesis Coupe.
