Ford’s latest F-150 half-ton has been crowned the North American Truck of the Year.

The new F-150 beat out the Chevy Colorado and Lincoln MKC to take the top title.

The truck features an all-new aluminum body that helped it to lose up to 700 lbs in some configurations. Two new engines have been added to the lineup, a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 and a new 2.3-liter EcoBoost V6. A 5.0-liter V8 and a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 remain as options from the previous truck.

When properly equipped, the F-150 can tow 12,200 lbs and haul 3,000 lbs of payload.

A host of segment-first features including a trailer light check system, a set of exterior spotlights and a 360-degree around view camera are all present on the F-150.

The truck was also named AutoGuide.com’s Truck of the Year.
