GM Ignition Switch Death Toll Reaches 50
The death toll for General Motors’ massive ignition switch recall officially sits at 50.
The latest report comes as the January 31 deadline to file a claim nears, although the number could still increase because there are still 67 death claims under review. Kenneth Feinberg, who is leading the company’s compensation fund, is also working with 53 applicants that haven’t documented their death claim requests. A total of 338 death claims have been filed and the rest have been denied according to the most recent report.

In total, Feinberg has now received 3,038 claims from GM customers and families that were in accidents involving the ignition switch recall.
