In-car technology titan QNX announced today that it will provide Volkswagen with its next infotainment system.
“For more than a decade, QNX Software Systems has worked with member companies of the Volkswagen Group, providing software and services for a full gamut of systems, from hands-free solutions to highly integrated digital instrument clusters,” said Andrew Poliak, QNX global software systems business development director said.
QNX already provides software to many other brands in the Volkswagen Group including Audi and Porsche. New 2015 VW’s including the Touareg, Passat, Golf, and Golf GTI will now also get QNX’s real-time operating system and in-car technology.
You can see this partnership at work in the brand new VW Touareg, which recently introduced support for 3D Google Earth maps and Google Street View. Additionally, the system also features realtime traffic information, points-of-interest search, reverse camera display, voice control, Bluetooth connectivity, multimedia support, four-zone climate control, a high-resolution 8-inch color touchscreen and other advanced features.
