Mercedes-AMG is in the middle of testing a new hardcore version of the GT sports car.

Despite reports that Mercedes-AMG won’t make a hardcore Black Series model anytime soon, AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers have caught this hardcore AMG GT testing with what appears to be a package fitting for a Black Series model. The prototype has a very aggressive aerodynamic package featuring a large front splitter, canards on the front, wider fenders and the obligatory large spoiler on the rear.

Considering the more powerful Mercedes-AMG GT S makes 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, expect the Black Series model to boast around 550 to 580 hp under the hood. Along with its improvements to aerodynamics, larger brakes and a slight diet, the AMG-GT Black Series will be worthy of the nameplate and expect to see it as a 2017 model.
