Nissan has halted sales on certain 2016 Maxima models.

The affected vehicles are identified by their VIN number, with the issue stemming from an unidentified quality problem. A Nissan spokeman told Automotive News that it is not clear what the exact quality concern is yet or how many vehicles are involved, though the company expects the number of affected units to be small.

Nissan wants to pinpoint the specific problem before making an announcement about it. The stop sale is nationwide and it took effect a few days ago, though production has not been affected.

The 2016 Maxima has only been on sale for about a month. “Nissan is committed to a high level of customer service and satisfaction,” the company said in a statement. “This commitment requires Nissan to periodically place certain specific vehicles on a temporary Quality Assurance Hold to assure that these vehicles, as delivered to our customers, meet our exacting standards and our customers’ expectations.”
