The Lexus GS family has grown with the arrival of a new entry-level GS200t model.

Introduced at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the 2016 Lexus GS lineup will get a minor facelift with a stronger version of the Lexus signature spindle grille up front. Framed by satin chrome trim, the GS family will also benefit from new standard Bi-LED headlights. Further sharpening the sedan’s profile are a new front bumper and rocker panel design, while the rear gets revised tail lights and updated rear trim. On all four corners of the GS will be new 18- or 19-inch machine-finished wheels.

The major announcement is the addition of the GS200t to the lineup, sporting a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The powerplant is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, helping the GS200t get an estimated highway fuel economy of 33 mpg. With the addition of the GS200t to the lineup, Lexus has decided to give the GS350 a little bit more performance, increasing the 2015 model year’s 306 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque to 311 hp and 280 lb-ft for the minor refresh.

Optional for the 2016 model year will be the new Lexus Safety System +, which adds Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Steering Assist, Intelligent High Beam (IHB) and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. The interior also benefits from a larger 4.2-inch multi-information display while the GS350 and GS450h models will have standard navigation.
