According to the Japanese automaker, the original plug top ignition coils may degrade over time, which in the worst case scenario, would cause the engine to stall. If the engine was to stall unexpectedly, it could possibly increase the risk of a crash. No crashes or injuries related to the issue have been reported and the faulty plug top ignition coils were first discovered through the warranty claim process outside the U.S.

The recall is being announced ahead of mail notifications in hopes that owners will take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive the notification in the mail, which will begin getting sent out on October 6, 2015.
