While the Mercedes-AMG GT S is currently at the top of the brand’s performance lineup, something even more impressive is on its way.

According to Autoblog, a true successor to the SLS AMG is under development, which will return as the pinnacle of the Mercedes-AMG lineup. The car will use a new 12-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor and battery pack to make sure it can deliver peak performance and decent fuel economy.

A timeline for when the new SLS would arrive was not mentioned, but it seems that it is still years away from happening. A Black Series version of the AMG GT is also expected to debut before the new halo sports car.
