The Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe’s Launch Edition will be inspired by the German automaker’s DTM race car.

The DTM race car will make its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and its livery became the influence for the Edition 1 model for the C63 and C63 S Coupes. The outside has a striking combination of designo selenite grey magno with yellow foil treatment while black wheels are accented by yellow lips. Yellow racing stripes can be found on the hood, roof, trunk and sides above the side skirts. The Edition 1 also comes with performance seats and an aerodynamic package.

The Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe is powered by a 4.0-liter Biturbo V8 engine with either 469 hp or 503 hp depending on trim. The standard model comes with 479 lb-ft of torque while the more powerful C63 S has 516 lb-ft. The DTM race car variant is expected to start competing in the 2016 season with its first test runs commencing this winter.

“The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé will again set new standards for driving dynamics and design. So, the vehicle provides the ideal basis for our DTM car,” said Mercedes-AMG DTM boss Ulrich Fritz. “I’m already looking forward to seeing the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM compete in 2016. Our aim with this vehicle is, of course, to continue the Mercedes-Benz success story in the DTM.”
