The Porsche Cayman GT4 will soon be available with an optional PDK transmission.

The news comes courtesy of a Porsche forum member who recently had the opportunity to speak with Andreas Preuninger, head of special projects at Porsche. According to user “matttheboatman,” Preuninger said the GT4 will be offered with a PDK or manual, with an official announcement reportedly coming soon. The interview also revealed that Porsche has no plans on making a hardcore GT4 RS model, at least not for this generation, since it will likely be too close in pricing to the GT3.

Automotive enthusiasts applauded Porsche for offering the new Cayman GT4 with only a manual transmission, but it appears that the German automaker will succumb to demand by adding a PDK option that will likely be available at a premium, like all other PDK-equipped models.

The Porsche Cayman GT4 is currently powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six engine from the 911 Carrera S, sporting 385 hp and a six-speed manual transmission. Not only is it arguably the best-looking Cayman model yet, it dropped a Nurburgring time of 7:40, matching the last-generation 911 GT3.

I thought they had sold out of GT4's pretty quick, wonder why they feel the need to add PDK variant if they sold like hot cakes. Then again this is forum speak.....so anything is possible?
