Just revealed at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China is BMW’s new Compact Sedan Concept.

Essentially a preview of the next generation 1 Series, BMW claims this is the company’s vision of a four-door sedan for the compact segment. With the wheelbase stretched to the corners, the concept is painted in liquid metal bronze, fitted with 20-inch wheels and wearing all the usual BMW design cues. LED lights abound on the concept, found within the headlights and taillights.

Inside, things are the usual BMW fare, and highlights include head-up display, Nappa leather, open-pored wood and an 8.8-inch infotainment display screen. BMW is touting the importance of rear passenger space with the Compact Sedan Concept and claim two rear passengers will have ample space for the car’s size.

No technical details have been disclosed for the concept car, but rumor has it that the next generation BMW 1 Series will switch over to front-wheel drive architecture, joining the X1 and 2 Series Active and Grand Tourers.

Although this is a nice looking compact, the Ultimate Driving Machine, formerly, is now the Ultimate Appliance Machine. BMW is losing its way.
