It is all but officially confirmed that the new Hyundai Genesis G90 will be powered by a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine.

There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding the luxury sedan that will replace the outgoing Equus, and spy photographers have caught a prototype hot-weather testing. Along with grabbing the first shots of the Hyundai Genesis G90’s interior, the photographers also managed to snap photos of the engine bay, as messy as it appears.

The good news is, the spy photographers can confirm that the Genesis G90 prototype has been testing with the new 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 mill, and some stickers found on the windshields of some of the prototypes confirm the powertrains being used in testing: 5.0 AWD, 3.3T AWD and 3.3T 2WD.

That also confirms that the new Hyundai Genesis G90 will come with all-wheel drive and that the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine won’t replace the 5.0-liter V8, but rather it will be sold alongside the current engine. Expect the V8 engine to get some tweaks considering the twin-turbo V6 will likely have similar performance.

As for the interior, the spy photos reveal a sweeping dashboard equipped with a large, widescreen LCD screen. The interior exudes luxury with attractive wood grain, perforated leather and brushed metals with a satin finish. The photographers also managed to get a close-up photo of the G90’s new head-up display that is similar to what’s found on the BMW 740i that was also on hand for benchmarking purposes.

That is a bird's nest of wires and hoses! Hopefully they clean things up before this engine enters production. I'm sure they will.

I can't wait to see the Genesis G90 elite sedan to debut. This car is going to be something else.
