GM Files for Regal Tourx, Tourx Trademarks

General Motors has filed for two trademarks: Buick Regal Tourx and Tourx.
Both trademark applications were filed on December 16, 2015 and will be assigned to an examining attorney in approximately three months. According to the applications, the Regal Tourx and Tourx are for “Motor land vehicles, namely automobiles” and will likely be used for the Buick brand, if they are used at all. Based on recent spy photos (seen above), the Buick Regal is expected to be redesigned for the 2017 model year and will likely grow a bit in size to separate it further from the cheaper Verano.

Earlier this year, it was reported that GM is considering importing a Regal wagon from Germany that would be based on the next-generation Opel Insignia wagon. It’s a strong possibility that the Tourx nameplate would be used for a wagon variant.
Naturally over the years numerous automakers have trademarked various nameplates and symbols for possible use, many of which are never used. It will be interesting to see if Buick decides to expand on its Regal offerings in the U.S.
