The Bugatti Veyron is an automotive legend, and rightfully so. For starters, this ultra-exotic machine sported an astronomical 1,000-horsepower engine that got even more muscular over its production run.

Not ones to rest on their prodigious laurels, this boutique French brand has been hard at work on a replacement car, and it was just revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. Allow us to introduce you to the all-new Chiron.

Named after a centaur in Greek mythology, this machine claims more than its share of “mosts.” According to Bugatti, it’s the most powerful, fastest, luxurious and exclusive production super sports car in the world. One look at what it offers and we’re inclined to agree. Accordingly, here are the eight most mind-blowing facts about the Bugatti Chiron.

It has 1,500 Horsepower

Yes, you read that right. This machine features a stable of 1,500 horses, though torque measures a much more reasonable 1,180 lb-ft, which is available between 2,000 and 6,000 rpm. We reckon that’s plenty for a weekday commute to the office, no? A newly developed, quad-turbocharged, 8.0-liter W16 engine provides that thrust, which is probably enough to scramble your brain. Despite the crazy numbers, the press release assures us the car has “outstanding control in all speed ranges.”

This engine features 32 fuel injectors and extra measures of mass-reduction compared to its predecessor. Thanks to its engineering enhancements, it can inhale more than 60,000 liters of air per minute at full song. Sounds like Bugatti’s trying to kick Sir Isaac Newton in the dick. Take that, physics!

High-Fiber Diet

As one would expect, this beast of a car is built around a space-aged carbon-fiber monocoque structure, just like a racing car. Similarly, its body is dressed in the pricey material to keep mass in check, but that’s not all. Even its airbag bursts through a covering made of carbon fiber, which the company claims is a world’s first.

Here’s an interesting tidbit from the press release: “For the first time, the rear end of the car is also made from carbon fibre. If all the fibres used in the monocoque were laid out end to end, they would stretch nine times the distance between the earth and the moon. The production of a monocoque takes four weeks.”

All-New Adaptive Chassis

The Chiron is the first Bugatti to benefit from an adaptive chassis, something that should aid its high-speed stability and further burnish its cornering credentials. It offers five separate driving programs and is backed up by bespoke Michelin tires and brand-new Formula One-grade brakes for true race-bred performance.

The Chiron’s Top Speed is 420 KM/H … Sort of

The Chiron’s top speed is 420 km/h, which is about 261 miles an hour, a few digits higher than what its predecessor was good for. But doesn’t that seem kind of slow for a 1,500-horsepower cruise missile? Well, in fact it is. As it turns out, the car’s electronically limited to that velocity on the street; it will be quicker on closed circuits, though Bugatti hasn’t mentioned how much faster it can run. On the topic of sprinting, Chirons should be able to reach 62 miles an hour from a standstill in just 2.5 seconds. Bugatti is ready to claim the world speed record.

Gratuitous Luxury

Underscoring its ultra-luxury position in the marketplace (like it needs that, right?) the Bugatti Chiron’s front emblem is crafted of fine silver and covered in an enamel finish. Plus, just take a peek at this interior! It’s like living inside a peanut butter-colored cow, there’s so much rich leather!

It’s Retro

Do you see any classic styling cues in the new Bugatti Chiron? It’s OK if you don’t. It not like a Mustang’s three-chamber tail lights or a BMW twin-kidney grille. If you look closely, the accentuated side lines of this beast were inspired by the unmistakable Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, a legendary car from the art-deco age.

Its Base Price is €2.4 Million

Base price for the all-new Chiron is a heart-stopping €2.4 Million, that’s roughly $2.6 million. Want one? Well, get in line, oh, and plan on robbing a bank the U.S. Federal Reserve.

Only 500 Will Be Built

Like other Bugattis, the Chiron is an extremely limited production machine. The company only plans to build 500 of these thoroughbred rocketships. Curiously, they’ve already begun taking advanced orders and a third of the available cars are already sold. Deliveries are scheduled to commence this fall.

Every AutoGuide story I read has some smutty reference to "butts" or "dicks"... Do the editors think they're being edgy? More like juvenile, frankly.

Damn! This is one beautiful piece of automotive art. I would put it on my bucket list, but my bucket is way too small and I don't know anyone with a big enough bucket.
