The even hotter Mercedes-AMG GT R has shed some of its camouflage for spy photographers.

Caught on camera testing in the cold, we now get a really good look at the Mercedes-AMG GT R’s aggressive styling with larger air intakes in the front bumper, a noticeable rear spoiler, more aggressive rear diffuser, air vents in the rear bumper and a dual-exit, center-mounted exhaust system. The Mercedes-AMG GT R is expected to slot between the GT S and upcoming Black Series model, although its name could change if Nissan has some issues with it.

Currently, the Mercedes-AMG GT S packs 503 horsepower, so expect the higher-rated R model to bring even more heat with 550 to 560 hp from the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. It will also likely shed some weight so that it can do the zero-to-62-mph sprint in just over 3 seconds.

Recently, Mercedes-AMG CEO Tobias Moers confirmed that the hotter AMG GT model will arrive this summer, so it’s only a matter of time before we get more details.
