Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled its BMW X4 fighter.

The world of coupe-styled SUVs continues to grow with the introduction of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. Also in tow at the 2016 New York Auto Show is its highest-performance variant, the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe. The production GLC Coupe makes its debut just a year after its concept bowed at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show, showing just how quickly the German automaker wants to move in the ever-growing crossover and SUV segment.

Compared to the standard GLC, the GLC Coupe is 3.2 inches longer and 1.6 inches lower. Overall dimensions come in at 186.2 inches long and 63 inches tall while riding on a 113-inch wheelbase.

Powering the standard Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4MATIC Coupe is a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 241 horsepower. The more powerful AMG offering provides 362 hp from a 3.0-liter biturbo V6 mill. Both models come equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe won’t arrive dealerships until early next year, so expect pricing to be announced closer to its launch.

The GLC Coupe is not my coupe of tea but I do think it looks a lot better on a smaller package than the GLE Coupe and I definitely like the GLC 43 AMG. I expect a GLC 63 AMG model debut sometime next year.
