2017 Mercedes-AMG GT Price Cut by $18K Thanks to New Base Model
The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT will join the U.S. lineup late this summer with a starting price of $112,125 including destination.
For the 2016 model year, the German automaker only offered the higher-trim Mercedes-AMG GT S in the U.S., but will add the new base variant this year. The standard Mercedes-AMG GT will feature 456 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, good enough for a zero-to-60 sprint of 3.9 seconds. The more powerful AMG GT S will pack 577 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to accelerate to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT S will be priced from $132,125, making an increase of $1,300 over the 2016 model year.

Minor changes are also heading the sports car’s way with the AMG Black Piano Lacquer trim replacing the current Black Diamond trim. A new AMG Aerodynamic Package is also being added that includes a fixed rear spoiler, while R03 cup tires can be ordered with the AMG Dynamic Plus Package. Another option is a 10-kW onboard trickle charger.
Both the AMG GT and AMG GT S models are powered by a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine mated to a seven-speed AMG SpeedShift dual clutch transmission.
Pricing for the recently announced Mercedes-AMG GT R will be announced at a later date, closer to its mid-2017 arrival.
