Lexus LC GT500 Competing in 2017 Super GT Season

Lexus is replacing the RC F racecar in Japan with the new LC 500.

As stunning as the Lexus LC 500 looks in production form, the race car takes the styling to a whole new level and is arguably the Japanese automaker’s best looking race car yet.

Developed by TRD Japan, it actually shares very little with the production car considering it has to compete with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine like all other GT500 cars. The engine is paired to a six-speed sequential transmission and will be racing door-to-door against other Japanese supercars like the Honda NSX and Nissan GT-R.

It will be campaigned in the 2017 Super GT season that kicks off in September, which gives the team a full summer to test the new race car. Expect the Lexus RC F GT3 to continue racing in the U.S. considering it’s barely a year old.
