Mercedes-Benz has released a short teaser video for its electric SUV concept debuting at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

It has been speculated leading up to this year’s Paris Motor Show that the German automaker will preview a future electric SUV model aimed to take on the Tesla Model X. Although the video mostly consists of close-up and detail shots of the concept, it does appear to be a high-riding vehicle and according to the German automaker, the concept “embodies a tangible vision for a completely new vehicle generation with electric battery-powered drive.”

Rumor has it that the production model will be introduced in 2019 and is estimated to have around 310 miles of range.

2016 Paris Motor Show Coverage

Mercedes-Benz is working on a new vehicle platform designed for all-electric vehicles, and recent reports indicate the automaker will form a sub-brand similar to BMW’s i. It is believed Mercedes wants to introduce four electric vehicles by 2020.
