Ford F-150 Raptor Wins 2017 Reader's Choice Truck of the Year Award Staff

The Ford F-150 Raptor has won over the hearts of truck enthusiasts, taking home the 2017 Reader’s Choice Truck of the Year Award.

Packing aggressive styling with plenty of off-road capabilities, the new F-150 Raptor features a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine rumored to have 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque while paired to an all-new 10-speed transmission. In addition, the off-road-ready pickup features its first-ever dual exhaust and new 17-inch wheels paired with next-generation BFGoodrich All Terrain KO2 tires. The Raptor also comes standard with new FOX Racing Shox with custom internal bypass technology that works to damp and stiffen suspension travel over rough terrain.

We haven’t yet had a chance to put the Raptor to the test, but it’s a task our truck expert Stephen Elmer is desperately looking forward to, commenting, “This should take off-road capabilities, and especially dune running, to whole new levels right out of the box,” while firing his patented double guns. With eight different vehicle categories voted for in this year’s 2017 Reader’s Choice Awards, Acura took home the coveted title of Reader’s Choice Car of the Year. Chevrolet earned itself two Reader’s Choice wins for the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport as the Reader’s Choice Sports Car of the Year, while the Chevrolet Bolt was named Reader’s Choice Green Car of the Year. The Reader’s Choice Luxury Car of the Year honors goes to the Lincoln Continental. In the Reader’s Choice Utility Vehicle of the Year, the Mazda CX-9 grabbed top honors, while the Reader’s Choice Luxury Utility Vehicle of the Year was the Jaguar F-Pace. The Ford F-150 Raptor took home Reader’s Choice Truck of the Year and the McLaren 570S earned Reader’s Choice Exotic Car of the Year.’s annual Reader’s Choice awards are chosen by visitors to the over 600 automotive websites under the Group umbrella. With 242 million monthly pageviews the group is the largest auto audience online according to ComScore Media Metrix.
