Honda is Developing Touch-Sensitive Self-Tinting Windows

Honda has applied to patent a new system that will give occupants in its cars the ability to control the shading of the windows with a touch.

Much like the Magic Sky Control sunroof found in some Mercedes products, Honda has developed a system that allows you to control how opaque windows can be, but this system takes it one step further.

By dragging your finger across the window, you can control exactly how much of the window you want to be shaded. Thanks to this controllable size, a setup like this could be used on any window on the car, including the windshield, taking the place of the flip-down sun visors found in modern cars.

The patent says that the the window shade system can only be used while the car is parked, and that it would use pinch movements for controls.
