Faraday Future is one of many new electric vehicle startups that seem to be popping up everywhere trying to mimic Tesla’s success.

The American company has been shrouded in mystery since its inception but has finally debuted its first ever production car called the FF 91 at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where it is also headquartered.

Here are six things you need to know about the Faraday Future FF 91.

1. They Claim It’s Quicker Than a Tesla

Faraday Future claims the FF 91 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 2.39 seconds, faster than a Tesla Model S P100D in Ludicrous Mode, which can do the sprint in 2.6 seconds. This means the FF 91 is now the world’s fastest accelerating car. Faraday Future is claiming the FF 91 will have “supercar performance.”

2. It Has a Crazy Amount of Power

The FF 91’s powerplant starts with a 130-kWh battery, which the company says is the largest electric vehicle battery in a production car with the most energy density. By using multiple motors, the car outputs a combined 1,050 horsepower.

3. It Also Gets More Range than a Tesla

Faraday Future says the FF 91 should be able to get 378 miles of range, a figure it says is class leading — a Tesla Model S P100D is rated to get 315 miles of range on a single charge.

4. It Will be Capable of Autonomous Driving

The FF 91 will be able to be driven by a human or autonomously. With 10 cameras, 13 radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and one retractable LIDAR scanner, Faraday Future says this is the most comprehensive sensor system in any car. Using this system, the car should also be able to find a parking space and park on its own, even without anyone in the car.

5. Connectivity is a Big Deal

Faraday Future says that this will be the most connected car ever. Drivers should be able to access their data through the car, regardless of which device or operating system because the car will be an extension of someone’s smartphone, computer or tablet. The car also won’t have a traditional key — drivers will use a Bluetooth-enabled device and an app to unlock and personalize the car. The car will also be able to learn and adapt to the driver’s preferences and, of course, will have built-in wifi hotspots.

6. Production Begins in 2018

People are able to make reservations for the Faraday Future FF 91 now. Interested people can make a $5,000 refundable deposit that can be upgraded for a limited edition model of which only 300 will be made. Standard, non-priority reservations can also be made with no deposit. The company has said that the Faraday Future FF 91 will arrive in 2018, but many are skeptical it can meet its own deadlines, seeing that FF has faced so many roadblocks like employees leaving, production issues, and financial problems.
