CabriOCanada: Follow Along As We Drive Across Canada in Droptop Benzes
You can claim to be a citizen of a country, but can you really say you’re from a place if you haven’t seen or visited all of it?
I’ve been living in Canada for 29 years now and have barely seen half of it. Sticking mostly to the metropolitan areas has given me a very one-sided view of the country. I know the big cities – Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal — yet only one of those is a capital city. Where are the other nine provincial capitals? To figure that out, I’m joining Mercedes-Benz for an adventure across the Great Northern Nation as a way to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.
Called CabriOCanada, I’ll drive a new droptop Mercedes each day this week and drop into each province of Canada. At my disposal are the C 300 4Matic, C 43 AMG, C 63 AMG S, S550, SLC 300, SL550 and a Smart fortwo cabrio.
Myself and a few other automotive journalists will be taking part in the trip, starting in the most Eastern point in Canada, which is Newfoundland, an island that awkwardly sticks right out of the country. From there, we’ll move towards Victoria, the Western capital of Canada. Follow me along on this trip and feel free to chime in and ask questions about the place.
