The wild Zarooq SandRacer 500GT, an off-road “supercar” built in the United Arab Emirates, has officially entered production this week.

The SandRacer 500GT originally debuted as a concept two years ago at the 2015 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Unlike many cars, the production model is actually more extreme than the concept, dumping its V6 engine in favor of a 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 525 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque. It’s being touted as a “supercar” that is capable of handling any off-road terrain, including the dunes of the Arabian Desert where it was born.

The design comes from Anthony Jannarelly, who penned the Lykan HyperSport, while famous tuner Mansory provides the carbon fiber body and luxurious interior. Thanks to its lightweight carbon fiber body, the SandRacer 500GT tips the scales at just 2,866 pounds (1,300 kilograms).

The Zarooq SandRacer 500GT features an Intrax racing suspension with up to 17.7 inches of travel, allowing the car to take two different stances basically – one lowered for the road and one raised for off-road. The car is road legal in the U.A.E., but no word still on whether it will be exported to other markets. If it is, we doubt very many will find homes – it’s priced from a downright offensive £350,000 ($450,000).
